The theme for year’s scarecrow competition will be Royalty which is a very wide brief so let your imagination run wild from King Canute to Queen Nefertiti or maybe the King of the Jungle.
Be creative in any way you feel inspired to be, there are prizes to be won!

Scarecrows are to be erected by '''Friday 30 June'''.
Judging will be carried out by the same independent judge as last year and will take place on Saturday 1 July.
As we did last year, prizes will be awarded the following weekend at the Allotment Picnic See below.

Next 6 week course

Wednesday 15th May - 19th June @ Hulme Community Garden Centre
All 6 week courses run from 2-4pm each wednesday afternoon and cost £35 per person. A deposit for £5 will be needed with your booking forms to secure your place.

Next one day course

Friday 17th May @ Debdale Eco Centre

All one day Couses run from 10am - 4pm and cost £25 per person. A deposit for £5 will be needed with your booking forms to secure your place.

These introductory courses are for anyone who is interested in Organic Gardening. Participants will learn the basics of organic food growing and how to grow fruit and vegetables organically.

The courses will cover:
•Getting Started - How to get your area ready for planting
•Your Soil - Understand different types of soil and how to make the most of it for your growing
•Planning your patch - How to encourage biodiversity and sustainability
•Organic Vegetable Growing - From the very basic seed sowing and propogation techniques to more advanced vegetable growing for the trickier vegetables
•Organic Fruit Growing - How to grow fruit in small spaces
•Maintaining and developing your produce - How to look after, harvest, and store your produce

SCARECROW COMPETITION
